Barking Up the Right Tree for Peacock Bass

I have thousands upon thousands of lures, some of them composed of all sorts of space age resins and substances like titanium and tungsten. At the same time, I have a lot invested in “basic” balsa. Those boys in East Tennessee and the Ohio River region know that sometimes natural is best, especially when the green trout are finicky. Therefore, I shouldn’t have been surprised when under tough conditions on the Rio Negro our guide fashioned a bait out of natural substances that outproduced the (expensive) store-bought products.

Marzo, wherever you are, I hope you’re doing well.

If you’d like to book a trip to the Amazon to chase the fiercest freshwater fish we’ve caught, reach out to Hanna by emailing her here.
