Big Bait Colors for Bass You Didn’t Know You Needed
I’m still new enough to the big bait game that I can’t or won’t take major risks when it comes to the colors of my glide baits, swimbaits and giant rats. I stick mostly with shads patterns, along with occasional bluegill or perch imitators, and some of the topwater models are straight black.
Nevertheless, as my collection grows, and I double up on certain favorite models, I’m starting to branch out on colors – and I continue to be amazed at what even the mainstream lure manufacturers bring to market. If you have a specific water clarity or forage you want to imitate – or you just want to show the bass on your home waters something they’ve never seen before, consider one of the following:
Freezer Burn
Cotton Candy
Ikehara SP
Rokumaru Secret
Coppernose
Glitter Carp
Experimenting with unique color patterns can give you an edge on pressured lakes. All of these baits — and more — are in stock at Tackle Warehouse, so load up before your next trip and give the fish something they haven’t seen.
