GSM Stocks the Pond With Texas Tilapia

We’ve written extensively about some of the tilapia-patterned lures on the market – hard baits, soft baits and wired baits alike. People typically look to match the hatch in Mexico and want to know what’s available. One of the ones that’s worked best for us is the simple 5-inch Senko in Yamamoto’s “Tilapia Magic” pattern.

But tilapia aren’t just in Mexico. We’ve fished for bass around them in several warm weather states, including Texas, where they thrive in a number of private lakes we’ve visited as well as in tournament venues like Falcon and Amistad. That’s why we were excited that GSM (owner of Yamamoto and other companies) introduced a new “Texas Tilapia” color at the Bassmaster Classic in Ft. Worth.
