Island Optics Sunglasses Conquers Guatemala
Half Past First Cast hosted a group of 16 at Guatemala’s Casa Vieja Lodge in February, and we absolutely CRUSHED the sailfish – 384 from four boats over three days, plus a handful of blue and striped marlin.
The effort was aided by the extreme generosity of our friends at lsland Optics Sunglasses, who graciously donated sunglasses to our entire group -- and let me tell you, once you fish in Guatemala with high quality polarized lenses made by Island Optics, you will never go back.
Our group consisted of both men and women, with heads of all shapes and sizes, and there was something in the mix for everyone. That made it easier to see sailfish coming up in the spread as well as recognizing when the fish switched to a different bait or teaser. While we might have indulged in a few beers to celebrate our “quad” catches (four at a time), so one suffered from any sort of eye fatigue or headaches, and everyone looked great in all of the pictures. That’s a winning recipe. As someone who owns a lot of sunglasses – my big head requires wide frames -- I can say Island Optics really understands fit and function.
We are incredibly thankful to Island Optics for outfitting our hosted group at Casa Vieja Lodge. Their donation wasn’t just sunglasses, it was comfort, protection and a better on-the-water experience for every single angler. Everyone raved about them.
