Post-El Salto, Crankbait-Laden, Tackle Warehouse Unboxing – Summer 2023
Before I leave Anglers Inn El Salto, I take an inventory of what lures I have stored there and which ones I need to replenish. It used to be pretty comprehensive, bordering on obsessive, but now I just check key categories to make sure that they’re well-stocked in the right colors.
Our most recent trip (May/June 2023) was heavy on cranking and various forms of soft plastics. I still have solid stocks of plastics, but we lost or damaged quite a few crankbaits. Fortunately, Tackle Warehouse had a sale a few weeks out after we returned, and some of the key baits were put on “clearance,” with a 15% discount. There were some items I needed, like a 100 pack of 5/0 EWG hooks, that were not on sale, so I’ll wait. I still hit the “free t-shirt” mark with ease.
Here’s my unboxing:
Items Purchased
Strike King KVD HC 2.5 – Black Back Chartreuse
Lucky Craft Silent 2.5 – Gizzard Shad
Strike King 6XD – Chartreuse Perch, Citrus Shad, Powder Blue Back Chartreuse
Strike King 6XD Hard Knock – Citrus Shad, Natural Shad
Strike King 8XD – Clearwater Minnow, Pineapple Smash, Chartreuse Perch
Strike King 10XD – Barfish, Chartreuse Perch, Oyster
Berkley Dredger 20.5 – Big Money, Black Chartreuse, Blue Chartreuse, Citrus Shad
Berkley Dredger 25.5 – Big Money, Black Chartreuse, Irish Gold, Stunna Shad
Decoy Worm Hook 220 – 3/0
Ryugi Heavy Guard Talisman Wacky – 1/0, 2/0
Remember, we have tons of tackle down there, but I want to know that if we get into a hot 6XD bite or squarebill bite, or Carolina Rig bite and they’re eating a particular range of colors, we’re covered. Furthermore, if anyone in our group doesn’t have something close, we can help them out.
