Smoke Gets in Your Eyes – A Yamamoto Senko Primer

If you limited me to two colors of Senkos, I’m pretty sure that I could get by with Green Pumpkin (#297) and Black with Large Blue Flake (#021). Fortunately, that limitation hasn’t been levied yet – and my pegboard, bins and storage containers prove that I’ve got a color for every situation. There are probably five or six that get the most usage, but several others that I save for special circumstances.

One end of the color palette that I don’t dip into quite enough is Smoke. It’s been a western desert lake staple for decades, and also excels on smallmouth and spotted bass fisheries, and of course it can be prime for imitating shad and other baitfish.

Not surprisingly, Yamamoto Baits, born and based by Lake Powell, has plenty of smoky options. Here are a bunch in the Senko alone:
