Top Pro Anglers’ Blade Bait Choices and Tactics
As I learned to fish on the Potomac River in the 1990s, many of the old school hammers lived for the wintertime, when they’d load up on clothing and settle into places like the Spoils to chase the biggest bass of the year. There was no dropshot or Ned Rig back then. Some of them relied on a jig and pig (real pork!) but the key bait for most was the Silver Buddy.
Blade baits continue to be big players in certain places at certain times of year, and fortunately we have a far greater array of shapes, sizes and colors than ever before (although the Silver Buddy is still a top choice). Here are some of the best videos I’ve found about this lure category:
