Our summertime topwater fishing here on the Potomac has been pretty solid this year. I know lots of people have had great success with various frogs but my two best options have been the smaller Rico popper and a ¼ ounce Crock-O-Gator buzzbait.

No matter where you live, as the weather cools, the surface bite should just get stronger. That’s especially true if you fish on lakes with large shad or blueback populations.
