With the rise of Neko Rigging and soft swimbaits, nail weights have become an important part of most anglers’ daily life. We cut ‘em up, insert ‘em, and lose more of them than we’d like to admit. Mine tend to end up back in the wrong bags or the wrong compartments of my utility boxes, too.

Most of them look like exactly what their name describes, the shaft of a nail or screw, with or without a top part that sits outside the lure’s body. As with everything in fishing, however, the tackle geeks will always find a way to build a better (or at least different) mousetrap. Here are five “nail weights” that aren’t like the rest.
