Products That’ll Get Me Bit in ‘23
Whereas once upon a time we had to wait for ICAST or the Bassmaster Classic to be the sole launch point for new bass fishing gear, now it’s virtually a year-round process. We get repeated inklings of new products coming down the pipeline and then – supply chain permitting – they’re available before we know it. That’s great for a tackle junkie like me, because it means that any time Tackle Warehouse has a sale I have something new I want to order. It’s also a bit of a struggle because with what seems like decreasing time on the water I simply don’t have enough hours to give everything that looks promising a fair shot.
As we enter 2023, here are four that I have my eyes on:
The latest iteration of the lure that has given me some of my greatest topwater thrills at Lake El Salto. As far as I can tell, the only difference from past versions is a new, more durable tail. If that’s the case, I’ll stock up asap.
Several top pros whose opinions I trust greatly swore by the original Chad Shad, but at about $200 I was afraid to pull the trigger. With a price tag less than a third of that amount, I’m ready, and I hope that the plastic version is at least close to as good as the resin original.
This is the only one of the four products mentioned that I already have in my possession, and while it’s not markedly different from other craws on the market in terms of appearance, I have a feeling that the floating plastic will make it one of my most-used models – for everything from jig trailers to Texas Rigs to the old ball and chain.
I’ve never been a huge dabbler in scents, but this stuff took Taku Ito from zero to the speed of light in smallmouth world in no time flat. I need a little bit of that Taku magic in the boat to get an edge and this might be it.
Those are four I have (or will have) in my shopping cart. Which products do you expect to change your bass game in the near future?
