While I’ve gradually gotten over my preconceptions about multi-piece rods – realizing that some of them can be extremely functional, even premium – I hadn’t yet gotten over my thoughts about telescoping travel sticks. They seemed amateurish and antiquated, and while you don’t run the risk of losing a piece, they presented some new complications, like proper assembly. Then Chris Martin of Daiwa introduced me to their Procyon telescoping rods, and suddenly I realized that it is possible to make a premium travel tool that slides into itself.
