Jiminy Crickets, I’m a Little Tipsy

Noisy cricket session ipa and big rock brewery grasshopper

Whether I am fishing for bluegill (where the descriptor is wholly appropriate) or marlin (where it is most definitely not), I almost always refer to my lure as “my cricket.”

As in, “He really wanted that cricket.”

Or, “That fish messed up my cricket.”

Truth be told, I haven’t used a live cricket as bait in possibly as many as 40+ years, but the thought of it harkens back to a simpler time, before I accumulated so much tackle. Back then, I couldn’t legally drink, but now I can and I’m going to try to celebrate the cricket era of my life with one of the following:

Cricket Brews

Noisy Cricket Session IPA
