It’s time to celebrate the conclusion of Shark Week, and there’s no better way to do that than with an aptly-named drink. Perhaps because sharks inspire so many iterations of the phrase, “Hold my beer and watch this,” there are lots of brews named after them. We’ve already listed some of those honoring hammerheads, but there are many, many more.
Of course, Dogfish Head, which built an entire brand around one generally-underappreciated shark species, takes the top space in that category, but there are plenty of others. Here are some of the other species-specific favorites we’ve found:
Lost Coast Brewery (CA)
Crooked Pecker Brewing Company (OH)
DB Breweries (New Zealand)
Pontus Monster Brews (Holland)
Toppling Goliath Brewing Company (IA)
Phillips Brewing and Malting Co. (British Columbia)
Whale Shark IPA
Wobbegong Wheat Ale
Zebra Shark Zwickerbier
Cayman Islands Brewery
Galveston Bay Brewing (TX)
Bull Shark Scottish Ale
If you can’t find any of these near home, there’s always the widely-available Landshark. Just remember to drink responsibly and don’t dangle your toes overboard.
