I’ll admit that it’s an unfair form of fish bigotry that I’ve never considered blue catfish as a desirable species for a replica mount. We typically don’t target them, but one time that we did we had a blast and caught eight of them between 32 and 59 pounds. On several occasions Hanna’s dad has queried why we didn’t get a reproduction of the biggest one.

I’m still not sure that we’re considering it, but in a moment of idle time I started to research the process. It seems that not all that many fish artists make blue replica mounts. I’m not sure why. Perhaps they’re more difficult because they’re not scaled like other fish? Or maybe there’s just not the demand.

One artist who seems to produce and sell a lot of them is Josh Roth of River’s Edge Reproductions in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri. Check out some of his work below:
