At Anglers Inn we are so lucky to have Betty Lopez Renteria as our masseuse. She may only weigh about 85 pounds, but if you closed your eyes before she came in the room, you’d think that it was a 250-pound steroid-addicted bodybuilder working you over. She’s that powerful. I don’t know where she gets it, but it’s amazing. Just ask anyone who has experienced her perfect touch.
Apparently the old saying is true: Dynamite does come in short sticks.
Her relaxing massage music, therapy oils and hot rocks (wherever they may fall) are a nice way to recover from a grueling day in the hot Mexican sun. You get back, grab a margarita, and then she works you over. Honestly, it’s the greatest bargain going. You’ve fished all day – you deserve it.
Not to worry, you big, strong, sweaty fishermen, I know that you aren’t as tough as us ladies, or as comfortable on the massage table, but Betty can be gentle with you when she needs to do so. You’ll leave the room refreshed, but feeling like a bowl of jelly. I just wish we could take her home, or fly her up to Lake St. Clair when our guides make us throw the 16 ounce “Pounder” for muskies all day.
Through our involvement with the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame and attendance at many great fishing events, we’ve gotten to meet many of our “heroes” — the people who shape the sport we love.
Steve Yatomi was a larger-than-life personality who was at his best developing new international fisheries and bringing out the best in his fellow anglers and travelers.
Taku Ito is a champion and fan favorite on the BASSmaster Elite Series -- but there's another species that's captured the Japanese pro's heart and dreams.

Meet Bear Trail Lodge guide Axel Howard and discover why this Alaska fishing lodge is perfect for beginners and experienced anglers chasing trophy trout.
Few people embody the Salty Crew lifestyle better than Matt Florentino. We sat down with him at ICAST 2026 to discuss his California fishing roots, the species he loves to chase, and the experiences that shaped his career in the outdoors.
Pat Renwick makes a living asking hard questions about bass fishing — so we turned the tables on him and tried to figure out what makes this proper bassin’ man tick.
If you don’t occasionally feel like you’ve outkicked your coverage then you are not aiming high enough. That’s what I’ve learned from a lifetime around the best anglers in the world.
I attended my first ICAST in Orlando in July of 2026. I went curious about what it would be like and left energized by the relationships that I made and the energy in the fishing industry.
