A Photo Guide to Eating at Casa Vieja Lodge – February 2026

Leaping sailfish in Pacific Ocean Guatemala

Through five trips to Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala, we’d learned to expect nothing but the best in food. Trip number six, in February 2026, lived up to those expectations. Hanna and I hosted a group of 16, some of them very heavy eaters, and no one went hungry for even a minute.

Rather than tell you about it, we believe the pictures speak for themselves.

Upon waking up and heading into the dining area, you’re greeted by a menu board listing that night’s four dinner courses. If there’s something you don’t like, just ask and they’ll provide a substitute.

Then it’s on to breakfast, which is made to order from a long list of options. While you’re waiting, you get a creative fruit plate.

Then the breakfast itself arrives. Eat enough to fortify yourself for some heavy sailfish battles. Our group landed 384 (plus a handful of marlin) over three days.

On the boat, there is a snack box, but you get a hot lunch, too. This was the first trip when we didn’t catch any mahi, so lunches were chicken or burgers.

When you get back to the lodge after a day of fishing, there are poolside appetizers and drinks.

Then at seven o’clock there’s the four course dinner you read about over a dozen hours earlier.

It’s capped off by dessert – if you still have room.

We guarantee you that the fishing is at least as good as the food. If you’d like to join us, shoot us an email and let’s get you booked ASAP.
