Arapaima Tattoo Ideas to Fuel Your Bolivian Adventure

Paiche fish Bolivian flag

We’ve been granted an incredible opportunity to travel to Bolivia in 2026 to chase the world’s largest scaled freshwater fish: the arapaima—also known locally as paiche or pirarucu. While we probably won’t have room on the wall for a full replica of the monster we hope to battle, we do have plenty of skin left—if anyone in the group is bold enough to commemorate the adventure with an arapaima tattoo.

These prehistoric giants are unmistakable, and the same goes for the artwork they inspire. Here are some of the best arapaima tattoo designs we’ve found as we spool up the heavy braid and get ready for the fight of a lifetime in the Bolivian Amazon.

Ready to make your own mark? Join us in Bolivia in 2026, chase a giant paiche, and create memories worth more than any body art.
