My Favorite Taxidermy at the 2026 Texas Trophy Hunters Outdoor Extravaganza
Each year at the Safari Club International shows I try to make a round or two of the floor to find taxidermy that intrigues me, impresses me or makes me laugh. It’s not necessarily the trophy whitetails or African game – I’m looking for oddballs, pieces of art that stand out from the crowd.
This year I attended the Texas Trophy Hunters Outdoor Extravaganza in Dallas for the first time. While much of the taxidermy was familiar, crossovers from SCI shows I’d attended, there were some new items or pieces I’d missed. Here are some of my favorite mounts, replicas and related items:
Some of the listed entities are the actual taxidermy or artist, while others are the outfitter that produced the animal (and in one case I’ve listed both). Every year I’m inspired by the artistry I see, and even though Hanna and I have only a couple of walls of fish replicas, the tour of the show floor inspires me to think of more ways to decorate.
