Chasing Gold: Palomino and Golden Trout Replicas That’ll Stop You in Your Tracks

Now that we’ve caught various trout, salmon and char in our travels to Alaska and elsewhere, the next step on our fishing “life lists” will be a Palomino Trout. That’s probably easier said than done, since these bright specimens -- hybrids of California golden trout and rainbow trout – are not necessarily easy to target. They are stocked in some waters (we may have to take a detour to West Virginia) but if and when I do catch one I’ll likely opt for a replica. It would be our second trout mount after my Montana cutthroat, and might end up being the most visually arresting option in our house full of fish taxidermy.
