Pete Robbins
Pete Robbins is a veteran outdoor writer and Senior Writer for Bassmaster. Over the past three decades, he has contributed to leading outdoor publications including Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, MeatEater, and Texas Monthly.
His focus is testing fishing tackle and gear in real-world conditions—from tournament bass fisheries to offshore and international saltwater environments—while telling the stories behind how and why equipment performs.
Pete’s background in both competitive fishing media and destination angling allows him to evaluate products not just as a writer, but as an experienced angler using them in demanding environments where performance matters.
Hanna Robbins
Hanna Robbins is co-founder of Half Past First Cast and leads field operations for its hosted fishing travel program.
With a professional background in corporate service management, she oversees the planning and execution of complex fishing trips across destinations including Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Argentina, Alaska, and Louisiana.
Hanna ensures that every hosted experience runs seamlessly—from pre-trip coordination through on-the-ground logistics—allowing anglers to focus entirely on the fishing experience.
She plays a central role in client experience and trip delivery. She is especially passionate about making destination fishing more accessible to women and first-time international anglers.
What We Do

While we continue to expand into new fisheries and bespoke experiences, we intentionally work with only one lodge or outfitter per fishery. This allows us to build long-term relationships, maintain consistency, and eliminate conflicts of interest in our coverage and recommendations.
