Why Wakasagi Jerkbaits?

Wakasagi is a popular jerkbait color, but most Americans probably don’t know what the word means. It’s actually a baitfish native to certain areas of Japan, as well as Korea and Russia. They’re also closely related to and closely resemble the Delta Smelt, a baitfish native to the famous California Delta and the source of much political consternation. We won’t get into that here, but we will share some of the many jerkbaits that aim to resemble the species.

Not surprisingly, Megabass goes all-in on Wakasagi, with various shades including HT-ITO Wakasagi, Ito Wakasagi, MG Wakasagi 2, FA Ghost Wakasagi, GLX Cotton Wakasagi and GP Invisible Wakasagi.

They’re not the only ones, however. There are plenty of other wakasagi models that might work well on your home waters. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of a few that appeal to us:
