Mahi From Bait to Plate

We’ve gone twice to Casa Vieja Lodge to target sailfish (and perhaps marlin), but one nice aspect of the fishery is that there are various other species to catch, whether intentionally or unintentionally. If you’re fortunate to catch a mahi or tuna in the morning, you can eat it minutes later. Here’s the process in rapid speed:

On Day Three, one of the mates asked us if we were tired of mahi and would rather have chicken or burgers – that question got a quick and convincing “NO” from all four of us. We’ve never had anything else for a main course on one of their boats and we hope to keep it that way. On shore, we’ll indulge in their steak, but even then seafood is our preference,

If you want to eat fresh mahi (or tuna) in Guatemala, give us a shout and we’ll make it happen.
